BATTLE OF THE SEXES AND THE HILLBILLY ATTACK?

Apparently tonight is the night when the "Batttle of the Sexes" Chess match will take place in Gibraltar.  I wonder will any of the teams be willing to play "The Hillbilly Attack?"

I must try and get some video of the match and provide backing music to it, particularly Hillbilly music.

One Hillbilly music track for the "HIM TEAM."

One Hillbilly music track for the "HER TEAM."

Some real  Hillbilly music is  included below.

Probably the most famous Hillbilly music scene from the movies is the clip below.

The great battle of the ages is described in the Bible.

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

THE HILLBILLY ATTACK

I have now added some Hillbilly music to this post about The Hillbilly Attack. A famous Hillbilly song which captures the spirit of real Hillbillies.

Well known English GM Simon Williams posted a most amazing video on the Chess.com website yesterday. It examines an attacking system for the white player and it just happens to be called “The Hillbilly Attack.”

To be honest, I have never heard of this attack before and initially thought Simon Williams was making a joke, it turns out he was serious and “The Hillbilly Attack” really does exist.

Below is a Wikipedia description of the word “Hillbilly.”

*********************************************************************
Hillbilly is a term (often derogatory) for people who dwell in rural, mountainous areas in the United States, primarily in Appalachia, but also parts of the Ozarks. Due to its strongly stereotypical connotations, the term can be offensive to those Americans of Appalachian or Ozark heritage.

“Hillbilly” first appeared in print in a 1900 New York Journal article, with the definition: “a Hill-Billie is a free and untrammeled white citizen of Alabama, who lives in the hills, has no means to speak of, dresses as he can, talks as he pleases, drinks whiskey when he gets it, and fires off his revolver as the fancy takes him.”

The stereotype is two-fold in that it incorporates both positive and negative traits: “Hillbillies” are often considered independent and self-reliant individuals that resist the modernization of society, but at the same time they are also defined as backward, violent, and uncivilized.

Scholars argue this duality is reflective of the split ethnic identities in “white America.” [1]

When I saw this it became apparent to me that it immediately opened up the opportunity for Nelson McCausland and his cronies to initiate another of their lucrative, money-spinning, state-funded “cultural schemes.”

An enterprising character like Nelson or one of his cronies could easily hi-jack and re-invent “The Hillbilly Attack” by re-naming it as “The Ulster-Scots Attack” or perhaps “The Scots-Irish Attack.”

They could then establish a new Chess Club giving it the name “The Ulster-Scots Chess Club” or “The Scots-Irish Chess Club.” Such a venture must easily be good for funding if about £200,000 per year don`t you think?

It is much too good an opportunity to miss, I must send this article to the Ulster-Scots Agency, no doubt they will set the wheels in motion to get the whole enterprise of the ground ASAP.

It would be a great appropriate position for Nelson`s sidekick/ Special Advisor Stephen Brimstone. Stephen is just the man to lead a new “Ulster-Scots Chess Club,” anyone with a phenomenal memory like Stephen is bound to be a great chess player. His incredible “Magnus Carlsen like memory” is a wonder to behold.

This article may sound outrageous, HOWEVER if you look a the recent list detailing all the mass-murderers, perverts and other gangster type groups receiving substantial funding, you will soon come to the conclusion this article is quite sensible.

Here is one link detailing many “projects” receiving funding.

Here is another link of many other projects receiving funding.

Here is Stephen “I can`t recall” Brimstone being grilled by Jim Allister.

HILARIOUS

"Gibralatar is a pawn"

Is he on dope or what?  Or is he trying to be a "Satirist"??

OR

Maybe he is trying to advertise the Chess tournament?

OFF THE BOARD DRAMA

All the drama took place off the board in last night`s scheduled match.  South Belfast second team were playing at the Lindores venue in East Belfast.

Unfortunately one of the players was lost in strange surroundings and had to be guided to the venue via "telephone communications control," situated in the Ulster Bankers club.

The whole telephone drama is captured on video.

The match between South Belfast A team and Fruithill ended in a draw.

Is there scope for a new type of tactics video?
Here is a position reached in my game  from last night. It highlights a scenario I do seem to have problem with.

I am black and it is black to play. I could instinctively see what seemed to be the best way for black to continue and I could see the next few moves.
After that I have real trouble visualing all the possible continuations.

Having spent about 15 minutes looking at this postion, I could not work out the final position of  a sequence of moves to my satisfaction, so I decided against playing an instinctive but unclear line and settled for B x Bishop on b4.

Now, I realise this is probably very easy for IMs and GMs to work out but but for a club player like me it just seemed too difficult on the night.

Today I think I realise what the problem is for me. It is easier to solve tactical problems when it is a forced mate in 2,3 or 4 moves, or if it means forcing the win of a piece in 2,3 4 moves.

It seems to me to be more difficult to work out tactics which don`t give you an immediate win or immediate gain of a piece.
If someone could produce a DVD or book specifically on tactics which are merely designed to give you an improved position from which to play for a win, I would be  extremely grateful.

Hopefully I have explained this in an understandable way?
